I wanted to see if the girls had preconceived ideas about what they could do in the future, were these ideas shaped by the media and the women they saw around them, do they have heroines who are projected from the media or more locally to them, who are their heroines?
The girls had a range of interests from running, gymnastics, baking, ice skating, reading, writing, drama - with a range of ambitions to either pursue their interest by becoming an athlete, author or performer, to just simply not knowing or even wanting to work in the FBI. Their hero’s were usually people they knew or someone they had met, rather than those in the media, but their range of interests were wider than I expected with youtube and some more traditional mens sports all being inspirational to them.
