Shoot Production Red Nose Days: Overview
I worked at Comic Relief for over 17 years, first as a Picture Editor and lately as a Creative Manager, managing a team of producers, designers, photographers and retouchers. I worked between the creative and marketing teams producing creative development and delivering look and feel documents across each campaign. I then executed shoots delivering content in the UK and internationally, managing requests across the business for stills and video. Producing stand-alone celebrity challenges to core campaign creative shoot production, I excelled at working between in-house teams, freelancers and agents building networks that enabled content delivery. I excel at building budgets and schedules, I worked closely with creative and marketing to ensure they deliver against the creative response be that for print or digital. I worked closely with project managers to understand resourcing, calendars, budgets, merchandise design and shipping lead times. I map out content requirements across each campaign, managing the delivery of product samples to shoots and delivering evergreen content requests to demographic-specific requirements across fundraising, TV, and calls to action.
TV
I worked closely with the BBC marketing and production teams, building relationships with the show’s production team as well as the marketing gaining knowledge of all opportunities for additional content to be shot. I gained access to many sketches, giving teams within the charity access and opportunities to capture additional content for organic and paid-for channels across print and digital.
Partnerships, POS, and Print
Working with corporate partners including Sainsbury’s, TK Maxx, Specsavers, and many more high street names. Delivering assets for in-store and digital working to agile deadlines across the campaign. Ensuring each product and partner appeared to the level of agreed deals across in-house fundraising and event materials.
I also managed the on-pack imagery for Comic Relief products, such as Gordon Ramsey’s Seriously Good Sauce, taking the brief, negotiating fees for the shoot, and delivering all pre and post-production for on-pack imagery.
Campaign Videos
Producing the content for campaign video content, creating ever ever-green list of content requirements, and giving feedback on content shot and gathered. Ensuring edit schedules were kept up to date and budgets were in line with projections. Casting and location finding fundraising shoots, crewing up shoot teams, delivering shoot paperwork including RA’s, call sheets and movement schedules.
Printed Packs
Working closely with creative and marketing to deliver imagery across fundraising packs, event materials, and direct mail content. Creating unique imagery that engaged and delighted the core demographic for each printed item.
Digital
Delivering imagery and video to populate across the campaign website. Working with teams on the live TV show ensuring the site reflected each of the appeals featured during the show across desktop and mobile.
Talent shoots
I produced shoots for a wide range of talent who supported the fundraising campaign. Prioritising requests across the charity to understand the core asks and what was nice to haves. Producing shoots for print and video requirements, generating ever-green shot lists and person-specific requirements. Doing all the pre-production including briefings, RA’s, call sheets, shot lists, managing scripting, booking locations, glam teams, arranging transport, food, and accommodation when needed.
